The origins of Wright

Wryhta n. pronounced /ri-ta/ circa 700 AD is the Old English word for ‘worker’ or ‘craftsman’ more specifically ‘carpenter’ someone who works with wood. Being the origin of the occupational name Wright and traditionally used in combinations such as ‘Cartwright’, ‘Shipwright’ and ‘Wainwright’.
