Wryhta

Crafted by Tradition

About Us

Co-founded by David Lewis and Kevin Meek in January 2025 Wryhta was created out of a shared passion for high-quality craftsmanship and a commitment to traditional woodwork.

After first becoming colleagues and then close friends through furniture making, Kevin and Dave set out to build a business centred on sympathetic restoration, exceptional workmanship and traditional values. Their commitment to heritage not only guides their approach to woodwork, but also the way they treat their customers – with honesty, openness, integrity, and clear communication at every stage.

Wryhta’s workshop is nestled in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, giving us easy access to projects across the southwest counties of Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire and Gloucestershire. Much of our heritage work centres around the historic city of Bath, renowned for its stunning Georgian architecture and rich cultural history. This region provides us with a wealth of listed buildings, churches, and period properties where our specialist skills can be most effectively utilised.

Our Ethos

At the heart of Wryhta is a belief in doing things properly.

  • Integrity in how we work
  • Professionalism in every project
  • Trustworthiness in our commitments
  • Open, honest communication with our clients
  • Craftsmanship rooted in tradition, not mass production

Heritage Carpentry & Conservation

Kevin and Dave are highly skilled craftsmen with a deep respect for historic structures, their specialist work involves the restoration of woodwork within listed buildings, churches, and aged structures. Operating under the strict requirements of planning and listed building consent, they use traditional joinery, hand tools and carefully selected timbers to:

  • Restore period features with accuracy
  • Conserve original material wherever possible
  • Maintain the historic character and integrity of a space

Every restoration project is entirely bespoke, demanding patience, precision, and a technical understanding of traditional methods.

Bespoke Furniture & General Carpentry

Alongside heritage work, Wryhta also undertakes a broad range of carpentry and joinery projects. Combining their backgrounds in handcrafted bespoke furniture, house building, renovations and general carpentry ensures each project large or small is completed with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

David

David Lewis

Dave combines a love of modern, clean lines with the discipline of traditional hand-tool craftsmanship. While he appreciates the efficiency of power tools (and has an ever-growing collection) his true strength lies in detailed, precise work shaped by traditional joinery techniques. A fully qualified bench joiner with a distinction in his apprenticeship, Dave is driven by aesthetics, accuracy and creating beautifully resolved woodwork. Away from work he enjoys being outside in nature and is an avid rugby fan.
Kevin

Kevin Meek

Kevin’s passion is creating one-of-a-kind pieces that celebrate the natural beauty of timber. His approach intentionally steps away from contemporary mass-produced trends, focusing instead on shape, texture and the character that only true craftsmanship can offer. A graduate of the Rycotewood Furniture Centre, Kevin is an advocate for heritage methods and the use of hand tools, believing that authenticity is central to quality. Off the tools, he spends his time with his family, cooking and enjoying live music.
